Canyon Lodge

Location
Mammoth Lakes, California

Size
104,000 square feet

Status
Completed 2018
Taking inspiration from the surroundings and the young, snowboarder clientele, this massive, all-scale renovation reimagines the 1970s-era Canyon Lodge as a hip, adventure-driven resort destination.
From interior details such as lighting and graphic elements, to larger addition-interventions at the slope-side plaza and canopy entrance, the palette includes warm tones of bronze and fir contrasting with industrial rusted steel and bold colors. New food and beverage options from casual eateries, to an indoor-outdoor bar, to a large, feature restaurant capitalize on the breathtaking mountain views with large expanses of glass and operable partitions. A vast skylight over the main stair brings light to the once-cavernous interior, while the newly-programmed and natural light-filled entry sequence provides visitors with an inviting welcome and exciting first glimpse of the slopes beyond.
